Josemaria Escriva Foundation (JOSEF) has continued its “Teachers Skills Enhancement Project” (TSEP) for selected public primary schools in Esan West and Esan Central Local Government Areas of Edo State. The project aimed at improving the quality of education through the training of 60 Teachers and 10 Learning and Development Officers (LDOs) annually in the areas of innovative content delivery using the “Teachers Tablets” (TT), Technology-Enhanced Learning which is a blend of technology and learning using the (TT), writing and communications skills, enhancing self esteem, time and stress management skills, amongst others. The project which is funded by the TY Danjuma Foundation (TYDF), has the approval of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board.
Welcoming participants to the 2024 training session, the Chief Responsibility Officer (CRO) of JOSEF, Dr. Jude Obasanmi, pointed out that, a total of 60 teachers and 10 Learning and Development Officers will be trained; adding that, 30 teachers will be drawn from each local government area.
According to Dr. Obasanmi; “The training session has two modules of 10 units to address the goal of the project. We thank Edo SUBEB for approving the project which has started impacting on the teaching outcomes of teachers based on the assessment made by the Foundation after the first round in 2023”.
In her remarks Ms. Tomi Ajayi, the TY Danjuuma representative in Edo State noted that the foundation is committed to the quality of life of the people adding that the project will run up to 2027. She thanked Edo SUBEB for the support and partnership.
“TYDF is an independent private Nigerian philanthropic grants making organisation committed to improving the quality of life of Nigerians by supporting initiatives that improve access to health and educational opportunities. The TYDF will fund the project till 2027 subject to the performance of the implementing organisation”, she said.
Responding, on behalf of Edo SUBEB, the Education Scretary Esan Central LGA Mrs. Esther Oni-Idialu commended the organisers and the SUBEB board most especially with the innovative creations of the SUBEB team aimed at improving learning outcomes.
The 2024 training session kicked off earlier with the training of Learning and Development Officers (LDOs) while that of the teachers started on Saturday, 24th February at the Uwen Dova Primary School, Ekpoma, Esan West local government area, with 30 teachers, including LDOs who attended previous training sessions and now facilitated the day’s training session, Quality Assurance Officers and Head of Session School Support Services, Esan West and Esan Central LGAs, Mrs. Joy Aigbokhan and Mrs. Precious Ohen.
Other LDOs present were, Mrs. Eseohe Imasuen, Mrs Violet Iyoha while Mrs. Beauty Odogun, facilitated the writing skills, Communication Development Skills and Classroom Management Skills Sessions of the training programme.
That of Esan Central comes up later in the Week. The participants are expected to take part in four sessions, step down the knowledge to other teachers in thier respective schools and a supportive supervision by JOSEF, SUBEB (LGEAs) and TY Danjuma Foundation
