The Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Festus Alenkhere has rinterated the unity and oneness of members of the Edo State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), insisting that the body is one in Edo State, adding that “there is no faction in Edo State SWAN
Comrade Alenkhe stated this on Tuesday, 16 July when the Edo State Council of the NUJ hosted a birthday party in honour of an active member of SWAN in the state,Kehinde Osagiede who is also the Press Officer of the Edo State owned Bendel Insurance Football Club, at the press centre of the NUJ in Benin City.
While noting that he’s looking up to the election into the Edo State Executive of SWAN, Comrade Alenkhe urged the National headquarters of SWAN to assist the Edo State Caretaker Committee of SWAN to conduct election in the state, adding that he’s looking forward to the coming on board of an elected Executive in Edo State SWAN.
Also speaking, the Chairman of SWAN Caretaker Committee in Edo State, Comrade Aliu Ozioruva commended Kehinde Osagiede’s contributions to the development of sports in the state with his sports reportage. Aliu noted that Osagiede does not write sports alone, adding that his community reports in the Nigerian Observer are marvellous.
Responding to the toast proposed by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhere, Kehinde thanked Journalists in the state for celebrating with him on his 50th birthday.
