The governorship candidate of Accord Party in the 21 September Edo State governorship election, Comrade Kennedy Iyere has commiserated with the priests, clerics and lay faithful of the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City and the entire Uromi community on the demise of Archbishop Patrick Ebosele Ekpu who died on Tuesday 6 August.
In a message signed by Comrade Iiyere and made available to newsmen in Benin City, the governorship hopeful paid glowing tribute to Ekpu’s faith in God and contributions to the spread of the Gospel and prayed for the repose of his soul and urged Catholic faithful and entire Uromi community to take sola e in the exemplary life he led.
“Archbishop Ekpu was a great Shepherd and a loyal Servant of the Church. I cherish his faith, fidelity, commitment and his great contribution to the holiness of the Church in the entire Archdiocese of Benin City and beyond.
“As we celebrate his earthly transition, I pray our Lord Jesus Christ to welcome his faithful servant into the peace of his heavenly kingdom, in communion with the saints and blessed”, the statement said.
“I urge our Catholic brethren, the entire members of Uromi community to take solace in the exemplary life Archbishop Ekpu led and imbibe the simple lifestyle that was the hallmark of his earthly sojourn”.
