Edo NMA Felicitates With Prof. Okonofua on Election to US National Academy of Medicine

The Edo State Branch of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) on monday felicitated with one its own, Prof. Friday Okonofua on his recent election to the prestigious US National Academy of Medicine.

Prof. Friday Okonofua is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Benin, and the Foundation Vice-Chancellor of the first specialized University of Medical Sciences in Nigeria, Ondo State University of Medical Science He has been Dean, Provost, and Member of the Governing Council at the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.

He is a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, the Nigerian Postgraduate College in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the International College of Surgeons, the Takemi International Health program at the Harvard University School of Public Health, the Nigerian Academy of Medicine among others.

A statement signed by Dr. Eustace Oseghale Chairman and Dr. Iluobe Inegbenosun Secretary, Edo NMA respectively said Prof. Friday Okonofua is deserving of the elevation for his contributions to the field of medicine.

The statement reads in part,
“This is a truly remarkable achievement and a well-deserved honor for your outstanding contributions to the field of medicine.

“Your dedication, hard work, and expertise have not only impacted the lives of countless individuals but have also inspired and influenced the next generation of healthcare professionals.

“Your election to the US National Academy of Medicine is a testament to your exceptional accomplishments and your significant impact on the healthcare space in improving patient’s care worldwide.”

The Edo NMA medical professionals added that there is no doubt that Prof. Friday Okonofua
will continue to inspire and educate others in his new role as a member of the US National Academy of Medicine. ” Your dedication to excellence and your commitment to improving healthcare outcomes will undoubtedly benefit countless individuals for years to come.
