Groups Caution Ossiomo Electricity Power Company Against Releasing Community Money To Individuals…

A Socio Cultural Group, the Benin Solidarity Movement, (BSM) Worldwide and the Ologbo Community Grass Root Initiative (OCGRI), has cautioned the authorities of Ossiomo Electricity Power Company against releasing money meant for the Host Community to individuals who are not ready to use it for the development of Ologbo Dukedom.

The groups in a joint World Press Conference in Benin City on Saturday 12th, July 2025 said, “Some individuals have allegedly been troubling the Managing Director of the Ossiomo Electricity Power Company, Dr. Uwa Igiehon to release the money meant for the development of communities as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to them.

According to them, “Despite the fact that the MD,  Dr. Uwa Igiehon has clearly informed them that the money is for the host community, Ologbo has never been given to individuals whether the Highness, Odiowere or the Okaighele, stating it has always been used to provide amenities for the people of the Communities in the Dukedom.”

Spokespersons of the groups , Ambassador Eghosa Curtis Ugbo and Comrade Omasan Omonigho Romeo who are President, Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) and President Ologbo Community Grass Root Initiative (OCGRI) respectively warn that on no account should the company release the money to those pesting them or they will be forced to take necessary legal actions against all those involved.

They urged, “The company should instead use the money to build either a health center, new markets, new schools or something reasonable for the people of the Dukedom to foster development rather than giving it to a few people who will embezzle the money.”

“Ologbo Kingdom is not meant for individuals, as such what ever is for the people should be used for them.

The groups warned that on no account should the money be released to anybody instead, it should be used for the provision of center or other reasable people oriented projects for Ologbo people.
