2026 NMA Presidency: Dr. Nosa Orhue Throws Hat Into The Ring

A renown medical practitioner and academic, Dr. Lancy Nosa Orhue AKA (LNO), has thrown his hat into the race for the 2026 presidency of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), ahead the election that will be held in the next few months.

In a statement in Benin City signed personally by Dr. Orhue and addressed to his hippocratic colleagues and made available to newsmen, stated that his medical trainings at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and the demonstrated dedicated service, purposeful leadership and the various roles he has played in the association in the past place him in good stead to pilot the affairs of NMA to new heights in (NMA 2026–2028) presidency.

“My professional journey at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels spans years of rigorous training which has partly prepared me for the service ahead. I believe I have demonstrated dedicated service, and purposeful leadership, including my role in the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD), National Remuneration Committee of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) and the National President of the Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA). These experiences have prepared me not just to serve, but to lead.

“As we approach the 2026 NMA elections, we stand at a defining moment and it is proper and respectful to inform you that I shall be presenting myself, with humility and conviction, as a candidate for President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) (2026–2028),” the statement appealed.

While outlining his programme for Nigerian doctors during his presidency, Dr. Orhue promised to have an inclusive administration and enthrone a regime of Organisational excellence, Reliability in action, Honesty in leadership, Unassuming service and Empathy for every doctor.

“Together, let us rise, stronger, bold, and united to take our noble profession and the practitioners to greater heights and our rightful place.

“As we approach the NMA ADM in the coming months, I ask for your cooperation and unflinching support as I consistently unveil clear, actionable plans to transform the Remuneration, welfare and the defence of the Nigerian Doctors and the professions of medicine and dentistry. This is not mere rhetoric but a sacred commitment I have made.”

Dr. Lancy Nosa Orhue (LNO), attended the University of Benin and trained as a medical doctor, graduating with an MBBS. He went for postgraduate training in Community Medicine and was admitted into the West Africa College of Surgeons as a fellow (FWACP).

Dr. Orhue, a Consultant in Community Medicine, has been championing professionalism and ethical practice in medical practice in Nigeria. He has served on the Accreditation Committee of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), where he brought his professional competence to bear in the accreditation of medical training schools across the length and breath of Nigeria.
