A Requim Mass in honour of Princess Asetu Iwelomen which took place at the St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, Ivue, Uromi preceeded her final cummutal to her resting place at her Ebhoje, Ebhoiyi Uromi ancestral home.

The atmosphere was quiet and reflective as the procession carried the late princess’s casket, draped in the colours of the Catholic Church and a bible.

In a homily, the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Jerome Idebe extolled her character, noting that she prepared herself for death, adding that God created us to be happy, but we are not happy due to our faults, but that Mama Asetu used the little she had to worship God and assist others.

Mama died in Christ and prepared herself for her death.
She used the little she had to worship God. Even in her sick bed she would still book mass for her children.
Her outward beauty manifested in all her actions while she was ailve. She did little things extraordinarily and this is what God loves.”

While calling on the children to immortalise her, Fr. .. admonished them not to believe anyone who may tell them that their mother’s spirit is disturbing them as she prayed for them while alive.

“I urge the children to immortalise her by following her footsteps. You have lost a Saint in that family.
Let no one tell you that your mother’s spirit is disturbing you because she loved and prayed for you while alive and will not worry you now that she’s with the Lord.

“She’s not dead, but with the Lord.
She was contagious in the positive sense.
Life without God is devoid of beauty, of peace and happiness and joy?”

After the Funeral Mass, the children accompanied by family members, friends and well wishers along with the hearse bearing Mama Asetu’s casket moved in a motorcade to Ebhoje, Ebhoiyi, Uromi for interment.
