One of the governorship aspirants on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the just concluded primary election of the party, Ambassador Martins Uhomoibhi has pledge his support for the party’s governorship candidate ahead the September governorship election in the overall interest of the party, Edo State and the nation in general.
Uhomoibhi stated this on the sidelines at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, venue of the PDP primary election on Thursday shortly before the emergence of Asuerimen Ighodalo (Esq) as the candidate of the party after polling 577 votes to defeat nine other aspirants in the primary.
Ambassador Uhomoibhi however gave a pass mark to the exercise noting that in spite of the flaws, that what he saw was good adding that there’s room for improvement.
“I’ll work with PDP and whoever emerges from this system.we will work together to make Edo State get the best and the PDP remains at the top.
“From what I saw today it was ok, though not perfect, but we can do a lot better. I am not given to hopelessness; we are on a journey in Nigeria. Democracy is not a straight line trajectory, even the so called advanced states who are marketing democracy, what kind of democracy are they marketing even in their own territory? What’s important is for us to resolve that we must make progress.”
While stating that some people felt he would not attend the primary election, Ambassador Uhomoibhi pointed out that he does not start a journey and cutt off midway and urge the people to focus on who leads them and ensure buffoons are not enthroned as leaders.
“Contrary to the insinuation of some people, that I will not be present at the Primary, I chose to attend. I am an ardent believer in the power of God almighty. For me, the end is what really matters, and I don’t start a journey, only to cutoff midway.”
