The Edo State Chapter of the Labour Party, LP, has condemned the recent physical attack on their National Chairman, Julius Abure (Esq), by Ms Precious Oruche, Alias ‘Mama P’ while on a queue at the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja, boarding a Max Air flight en-route Benin.

The party stated that, the lady intensified the assault at the Benin Airport after the disembarkation, attracting hundreds of on-lookers and travellers with the sole aim to humiliate and embarrass the party National Chairman.

According to them, “The lady, a known skit-maker and content creator continued the attack all through the duration of the flight, defying all attempts by the Max Air flight attendants to calm her.”

Addressing journalists in Benin City, the state chairman of the party, Honourable Elizabeth Ativie , said “The lady recorded most of the scenes which she uploaded to her various social media accounts with the intent to ridicule Abure and our party. While the assault ensued, the lady in her posts made some false allegations against Barrister Abure and the Labour Party leadership.”

Ativie added that, Ms Precious Oruche alleged that, “Julius Abure is the one who is frustrating Nigerians; that the Police has declared him wanted over forgery; that Abure and his executive have destroyed Labour Party; that it was the party leadership that ruined “their” chances; that Abure was the reason why Obi is no longer in the Labour Party; and that the tenure of the present leadership has expired.”

Ativie stated further that, “Ms Oruche also alleged that Abure and his executive have ruined their chances ahead of the 2027 general election. We consider this statement as both laughable and unfortunate. This is because, on March 26, 2024, the NEC of the party declared Peter Obi as the party’s soul candidate for the 2027 presidential election. This was offered on a platter but Obi waved it aside and continued a needless battle, a battle that may have inadvertently destroyed his future career in politics.”

She noted that, “The Supreme Court’s judgement delivered on the 4th of April, 2025 has also emboldened the party leadership to ensure that no external influence or individual preference should be allowed to override the party supremacy. The party is supreme.”

The chairman stressed that the tenure of the executive was to expire in June 2024, but a national convention of the party was held in Nnewi on March 2024 where the new leadership was elected for a four year term adding that statement that the tenure of Abure led executives has expired is not accurate and urged membes of the public to ignore it.

“Ms Precious Oruche has clearly crossed the line and we are going to seek for the protection of the law and from the law against any premeditated actions against the party or its officials. This democracy must be protected and actions designed to turn Nigeria into a lawless state must not be allowed to flourish.

“Character assassination, assault and cyber-bullying are severe crimes and we think that the Police must fish out Ms Precious Oruche sponsors and cohorts, and bring them to book”, she stated.
