Comrade Omogiade Osaherumwen Joshua (AKA Ogbuefi1) has been honoured with the 2025 Award of Excellence in Business by the Merit Media Award Network.
Presenting the award to in Benin City on Tuesday, 18 November, the Chairman of the Merit Media Award Committee, Mrs. Lucia Okafor pointed out that Comrade Omogiade won the heart of members of the 2025 award selection committee as a result of his honest business dealings as he engages in the dredging and supply of sand to his customers. Mrs. Okafor charged him to continue to display honesty and integrity in his business dealings.
“You were chosen for this award after series of scrutiny of your personal and official conduct, with particular reference to the honesty and diligence you have been displaying in dealings with your customers and clients in discharging your business engagements with them in the sales of petroleum and gas products, the supply of sand and other crushed earth products.
“This award is a reward for your uprightness and unabated penchant for the satisfaction of your customers as revealed by our investigations”.
Responding after the award was bestowed on him, Comrade Omogiade assured that he will continue to display honesty, integrity and the highest ethical conduct in his business dealings. He noted that he was surprised that Merit Media Award Network has been watching his conduct over the years, adding that the award has challenged him to redouble his efforts in treating his customers with courtesy and continue on the path of honesty, diligence, integrity and forthrightness in his business dealings.
Comrade Omogiade Osaherumwen Joshua (AKA Ogbuefi1) was born to the families of Anthony Omogiade and Esther Goodluck Efekhian, of Iyekeze and Obayantor Village respectively in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, on the 10th of April 1972 at the popular Iwehen area in present day Oredo Local Government Area.
On attaining school age, the Osaherumwen enrolled at the famous Fabiyi-Akpata Primary School, Iya-Ero, in Benin City between 1978 and 1984.
After obtaining the necessary and requisite education, Joshua enrolled as an apprentice trainee driver at the popular Ogiso Motor Park in Benin City to get acquinted with the rudiments of professional driving and learning the ropes on how to make an enterprise of his training in motor truck driving.
Having completed his apprenticeship and certified by all relevant regulatory agencies in his chosen career, Osaherumwen became a tipper lorry driver at the Egor tipper in 1989, supplying quality sand to his customers; bringing panache and finesse into his engagements with his customers, many of who made him their transport and logistics retainer in the building logistics chain.
As a result of diligence and professional competence, Osaherumwen was appointed the Chairman of Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) of Egor Tipper Drivers Association between 2004 and 2008; as a way of ensuring the drivers under the union meet vehicle regulatory standards, enhance their relationship with security agencies and dignify them as men of honour before their publics.
Having discharged his earlier assignment deligently, Osaherumwen was again appointed the financial secretary between 2008 and 2012 and was Treasurer between 2012 and 2016. He was again appointed the Speaker of the association between 2016 and 2021.
In 2020, Osaherumwen’s hard work, honest business dealings, integrity and accountability was noticed by the Benin Royalty and was appointed by the Okoro N’Okhua of Benin Kingdom, Prince Ezelekhai Ewuare as the manager of his borrow pit in Ovia North-East Local Government Area, a position he holds till date.
In the year 2023, he acquired his own borrow pit and
diversified into oil and gas; bakery and confessioneries, as he established a petrol filling station, Omogiade Joshua Oil and Gas in 2024 and followed this with the establishment of the Omogiade Joshua Bakery in 2025.
He has brought his business acumen and experience over the years to bear on these enterprises as they’re posting impressive balance sheets year-on-year.
A responsible family man, loving husband and caring father, Comrade Omogiade Osaherumwen Joshua is happily married with children.
