Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the redeployment of the Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Mr Suleiman Aladeh, to the Edo State Orientation Agency as its pioneer Director General.
The announcement was contained in a special government statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., on behalf of the state government.
According to the statement, the redeployment takes immediate effect and forms part of efforts by the administration to strengthen public institutions and improve service delivery across the state.
“The Edo State government wishes to inform the general public that the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the redeployment of the Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Mr Suleiman Aladeh to the Edo State Orientation Agency, where he will serve as pioneer Director General with immediate effect,” the statement said.
To fill the vacancy created by the redeployment, the governor approved the appointment of veteran broadcaster, Mr Festus Alenkhe, as Acting Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service.
“In his stead, Mr Festus Alenkhe is hereby appointed Acting Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service to oversee the operations of the station pending the deployment of a substantive Managing Director,” the statement added.
The government explained that the latest changes are part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency within the state’s public institutions.
“The governor’s decision forms part of ongoing administrative adjustments designed to optimise resource management and strengthen institutional capacity across critical sectors of the state’s administration,” the statement noted.
The government said Aladeh’s appointment as the pioneer Director General of the Edo State Orientation Agency was informed by his professional experience and competence in public communication.
“The redeployment reflects the government’s recognition of Mr Aladeh’s professional expertise and capacity to advance the mandate of the Orientation Agency—an institution critical to civic engagement, values promotion, and public communication strategy across Edo State,” the statement stated.
The administration also praised Aladeh for his stewardship of the state-owned broadcast station, describing his tenure as impactful.
“During his tenure at EBS, Mr Aladeh demonstrated considerable dedication to public service broadcasting and institutional development. The state government commends him for his outstanding contributions to the broadcasting sector and wishes him continued success in his new assignment,” the statement said.
On the appointment of Alenkhe, the government expressed confidence in his ability to sustain the station’s operations and uphold professional standards.
“Mr Alenkhe’s appointment as Acting Managing Director underscores Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to seamless operational continuity at the Edo Broadcasting Service. He is expected to maintain the high standards of service delivery and professional broadcasting standards that define the station’s reputation,” the statement concluded.
The Edo State Orientation Agency is expected to play a key role in deepening public enlightenment, civic responsibility and government-citizen engagement, while EBS continues to serve as the state’s flagship public broadcasting institution.
