Private Secretary to Gov. Ambrose Alli, Iyamah Dies at 84

The death has been announced in Benin City, of Mr. Pius Donald Iyamah who was the Private Secretary to former Governor of Bendel State, late Prof. Ambrose Alli while Governor of the state, now Edo and Delta States.

In a release by the family, Pius Iyamah died in Benin City in the early hours of Friday, 15 March.

A thorough bred, brilliant and honest bureaucrat, Pius Iyamah as Private Secretary to Governor Ambrose Alli brought his wealth of experience in the civil service to bear in the discharge of his duties as Private Secretary to the Governor, duties which have now devolved to the Office of Chief of Staff to the Governor.

Bringing his knowledge of co-creation of government high ticket infrastructure to the table, he assisted his principal in the drafting of the documents for the establishment of the Bendel State University Ekpoma, establishment of the Colleges of Education in Benin City, Warri, Agbor and Igueben and the implementation of the free education and free health services of the Ambrose Alli administration in the state.

Iyamah was also the Edo State chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP when the country returned to democracy.

A philanthropist and unrepentant humanist, Iyamah is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jesusemen Iyamah, five children and several grand children.

The release states that burial arrangements will be announced later.
