Edo State Government Constitutes AAU Governing Council

The Edo State government has announced the constitution of a Governing Council for the state owned Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.

In a government statement signed by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie (Esq) states that Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen will chair the seven member Council.

The other members of the Council are Mrs. Patience West Erhabor, Tony Innih (Esq) and Prof. Anthony Ekata Ogbeibu.

Others according to the statement are Prof. Sunday Ojeifo, Prof. Kokunre Agbontaen-Eghafona and Clifford Imade Omozeghian (Esq).

The statement adds that the official inauguration of the Council will be announced at a later date.

The Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) snd the Edo State Government have been at logger heads over the constitution of a Special Intervention Panel (SIP) by the state government in place of the Governing Council and called for the disbandment of the SIP and the constitution of a Governing Council in accordance with the law establishing the University. It is hoped that the constitution of the Council will reposition the state owned University.
