A leading Owan East House of Assembly aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kayode Jeffrey Iriabekhai, is expected to spring surprises at the scheduled party primaries.
Iriabekhai, who hails from Iruoke in the Ivbimion Clan of Owan East, was among the first aspirants to formally declare his intention to the people, with many viewing the early move as deliberate strategy rather than an afterthought.
Amongst his opponent is the incumbent member representing the Owan East Constituency seeking a third term in the house.
Iriabekhai is bringing a huge background in security architecture, which he says can be translated into bills and action plans to help the state government tackle insecurity which has become a festering challenge in different parts of the state over the years.
Iriabekhai belongs to the class of legislators with a proven track record and a second address, rather than those seeking a seat to boost their ego.
Born into the respected Ohiolei Iriabekhai family of Iruoke, known for excellence in their pursuits, he has repeatedly called for the chance to contribute legislative experience towards curbing insecurity and banditry in Owan East, Edo North, and Edo State at large.
At his declaration, the youthful Iriabekhai, filled with enormous zeal and vibrancy which he intends to translate into visible advantages in the legislature, appealed to the APC hierarchy for support in securing the party’s nod at the primaries.
The APC primaries geared towards picking the party’s torchbearers is expected to take place across the country in the later part of this month.
