Comfort Ikhianosen Arobonosen Egogo of Ukpenu-Ekpoma for Burial, May 30

All is now set for the burial of Mama Comfort Ikhianosen Arobonosen Egogo, the matriarch of Arobonosen Egogo family of Ukpenu-Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

In a statement signed on behalf of the family by the trio of Elder Anthony Egogo, Deaconess Felicia Iyamah and Pastor David Egogo and made available to newsmen in Benin City, said the activities lined up for the right of passage of the nonogenerian will commence with the family rights on Friday, 30 May from 9am to 12pm; while her corpse will depart Ofure Mortuary, Ekpoma for her residence at Egogo’s compound, Ukpenu Ekpoma at 2pm for funeral service and interment.

The statement adds that there will be social activities and entertainment of guests to celebrate the life and times of Mama Comfort Egogo at Mousco Secondary/Primary School compound, along Benin-Auchi Express Way, Ukpenu-Ekpoma, beginning at 2pm.

Mama Comfort Ikhianosen Arobonosen Egogo – nee Isibor – was born ninety-three years ago to the family of Isibor, Ogbogban-Ujoelen, Ekpoma in present day Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

She went to live with an aunt and her father’s younger sister in Lagos, having lost her modern at a very tender age and spent most of her youthful years there.

Though Mama did not have the opportunity to attend a conventional educational institution, that did not deter her from acquiring basic education as she enrolled herself in a part time school where she acquired the basic knowledge of literacy and numeracy, thus enabling her to read, write and and communicate effectively in Engligh Language, the nation’s official lingua franca. However, Mama could not continue her educational pursuit as a result of her father’s insistence that she come back home to get married.
She came back home and got married to late Mr Arobonosen Egogo, a successful farmer and Mama also got engaged in faming as well as petty trading.

Mama was a devoted Christian who became an usher and children teacher in the church at her old age.
While in Benin, she would always be the first to get ready for church services and house fellowships. Most times , she leads praise and worship in the family early morning devotions, rendering her popular song “Oh Lord, my God, how excellent is your name!”

A calm, respectful and humble personal, Mama was a bold, courageous and hard-working woman who was always willing to help and assist those in need.

A woman with deep compassion, always ready to listen, and offer advice with generosity that knew no bound, Mama’s doors were always open and guided her children with vigor and true prayers and ensured they were all educated.

Mama Comfort Ikhianosen Egogo is survived by children, many grand and great grandchildren, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, cousins, and nephews.
