The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has called for collaboration and security support from the Edo State Security Corps as it prepares to begin statewide operations to protect consumers and enforce market standards across the state.
The Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Iyamu Osaro Culture, who led some members of the Management Team, disclosed this during a courtesy visit on September 8, 2026, to the Commander of the Edo State Security Corps in Benin City.
Mr. Iyamu Osaro stated that the Committee is set to commence statewide enforcement of consumer rights, market inspections, and the upholding of standards across the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State.
The Committee requested security backup for its enforcement activities and the establishment of special squads to support its daily operations.
The Chairman assured the Security Corps of the Committee’s readiness to work closely with the agency to ensure effective consumer protection across Edo State.
In response, the Commander of the Edo State Security Corps, Mr. Richard Balogun, expressed the Corps’ readiness to support and collaborate with the Committee in the discharge of its mandate.
