Edo 2024: Iyere Kennedy, Ighodalo, Okpebholo, Others Make INEC List of Gov’ship Candidates

Dr. Asuerimen Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Comrade Iyere Kennedy of the Accord Party and Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made the list of the 17 governorship candidates as published on Saturday, 30 March by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the Edo State 21 September governorship election.

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in charge of Edo State, Dr Anugbum Onuoha, displayed the list on the commission’s notice board at its office located at Ikpoba Hill, Benin City.

Others in the displayed list, are Mr Uwaifo Osaro, the governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA), Social Democratic Party (SDP) has Aner Abdullai Aliu, All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Osifo Isiah, All People Movement (APM) Ugiagbe Odaro Syvelster while Areleogbe Amos Osalumese is the governorship candidate of All Peoples Party (APP).

Also in the list are Olumide Akpata Anthony of Labour Party (LP), Azemhe Azena of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Others are Akhime kingson Afere the governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), African Action Congress (AAC) is Udoh Obersifo David, Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is Akhalamhe Amiemenoghena and Boot Party (BP) has Osirame Edeipo

Others are, African Democratic Congress (ADC) Obazele Paul Agbone, People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Key Patience Ndidi and Young Progressive Party (YPP) Okungbowa Paul Ovbokhan.

In a related development, the INEC headquarters has said, the Commission shall publish the personal particulars of the governorship candidates and their deputies by displaying copies of Form EC9 along with all academic credentials and other documents submitted by each candidate at the State Headquarters and the 18 Local Government offices across Edo State.

The commission in a release by
Sam Olumekun, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, charged Nigerians to scrutinize the documents.

“Any aspirant who participated in his/her party primaries with reasonable grounds to believe that the information provided by the candidate is false can challenge the nomination in a Federal High Court as provided in Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act 2022” the commission said.
